These Monster Mask Cherry Pies are a spooky twist on a classic fruit pie. Sweet cherry filling is baked inside flaky pastry shaped like monster masks using the Monster Mask Cakelet Pan. Fun, festive, and easy to serve, these individual cherry pies make a playful Halloween dessert.
Ingredients
- 2-3 Premade pie crusts
- 1 21oz can Cherry Pie Filling
- 1 egg
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Prepare Monster Mask Cakelet Pan with baking spray containing flour and use a pastry brush to evenly coat the details of the pan.
Thaw your premade pie dough according to the directions on packaging. Cut the dough into 8 pieces and roll each out 1/8- 1/4 inch thick circle using a rolling pin. Add dough to each monster cavity, then gently press it into the sides of the mold. Be careful not to stretch the dough too thin, as holes may form. Add premade pie filling to each cavity, filling only 3/4 full.
Fold the dough edges over the filling and pinch to seal completely so no filling is visible. Use any excess dough as needed to fully enclose the filling. Gently press the dough into the mold so it takes on the shape of the monster.
Whisk the egg to create an egg wash. Using a pastry brush, brush the egg wash over the dough.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the dough looks golden brown brown on top (be careful to not under bake). Let cool 5-10 minutes and invert onto a cooling rack. The filling will be very hot in the center, so allow the pies to cool on the cooling rack until they reach a safe serving temperature. Enjoy with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream.
