Peanut Butter Pirate Ship Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 1/ 4 cups flour
  • 3 1/ 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/ 2 cups sugar
  • 1/ 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/ 2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 1/ 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/ 4 cups milk
  • 3 eggs

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour pan; set aside. In large bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend on low speed 1 minute, scraping bowl often. Increase to medium speed and mix 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes in pan. Invert onto cooling rack and cool completely. Decorate as desired.

    The cake itself is a nice brown but even with the lightest grease/flour of the pan, it created a light crust on all the ship surface details. The batter expanded as a dome, rather than filling out the base of the ship.
