Minnesota Made, Family-Owned

"We proudly produce quality kitchenware products that will be a part of your family’s meals and celebrations for years to come."

An inspirational American success story, Nordic Ware was founded in 1946 by a determined gal, Dotty, and her resourceful husband Dave, who was newly back from WWII. With $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to start a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was born in the basement of their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the beginning, Nordic Ware’s product line was only a handful of items, most of which were specialty Scandinavian cookware products—the Rosette iron, Krumkake iron, Platte Panne pan, and the Ebelskiver pan. But times have changed!

75+ years later, with a good measure of perseverance added, Nordic Ware is still proudly manufacturing the vast majority of its products in Minneapolis. Those original Scandinavian products have been joined by hundreds of other items in Nordic Ware’s product offering, ranging from bakeware and cookware to microwave products and grilling accessories. We’ve grown from two employees to hundreds, and our products are distributed across the globe. We’re proud to say that we’re still family-owned and operated, with three generations involved in our business, and each year we add innovative items to our expansive kitchenware line.

Undoubtedly, Nordic Ware’s most famous item is the Bundt® pan, which can be found in over 75 million households around the world. Few realize the name “Bundt” was coined and trademarked by our co-founder, Dave Dalquist, to describe the fluted design of the company’s unique ring cake pan. This original Bundt® pan featured a distinctive hole in the center that allowed cakes to bake evenly, and an elegant symmetry that made cutting and serving easy . Despite a lackluster launch in the early 1950s, the original Bundt® pan rose to fame when it was used to bake a prize-winning cake in a national baking contest, and the rest, as they say, is history. The pan has found its way into the hearts and homes of people world-wide, and Bundt® cakes have become a beloved tradition for countless gatherings and family celebrations. With recipes ranging “from the sublime to the ridiculous” and a myriad delightful collectible designs, Bundt cakes are truly the quintessential American dessert.
